The Peoples Democratic Party’s national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, welcomed Mr Lasun Yusuf, the Osun State Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the July 16 election, on Wednesday.

Yusuf served the Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, as the deputy speaker for the Green Chamber.

Though Lasun Yusuf did not address the crowd gathered at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park for the PDP presidential campaign rally in Osogbo, Ayu told the gathering that the former federal lawmaker had abandoned LP for the ruling party in the state.

Yusuf later took the microphone and sang a song in Yoruba, warning a certain kingmaker who was planning to get to the throne of dire consequences awaiting him.

Addressing a crowd of party supporters at the rally, the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, commended the people of the state for voting for the PDP at the last governorship election.

He called on them to strengthen the authority given to Adeleke by voting him as the next president, adding that people would have a new lease of life under a Federal Government-controlled by the PDP.

Atiku said, “Our only objective is to make sure that the current challenges of insecurity, disunity, economic deprivation, lack of jobs for our youths, and the future of this country through restructuring can be achieved. These I promise you. I am going to start doing them from day one in the office.
