Two persons have lost their lives following an auto crash along Kiyawa-Jahun road in Jigawa State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa Command, Adamu Shehu, made this known in a statement on Friday.

According to Shehu, the incident involved a grey Toyota bus with registration number MGM435XA, conveying passengers to Maiduguri, Borno State.

He added that the accident occurred along Kiyawa-Jahun Road, leaving two passengers dead; a male and female.

“On Thursday, 6th of October, 2022, at about 0600hrs, the accident occurred around Katika village when the driver lost control of the vehicle as a result of overspeeding, thereby colliding with a tree by the roadside,” he said.

The NSCDC Spokesman said the accident victims were immediately evacuated and rushed to a Primary Health Care Center in Kiyawa LGA.

“Sadly, two were certified dead while others, including the bus driver, sustained various degrees of injuries and were referred to Federal Medical Centre Azare, in Bauchi State,” he revealed.

He identified the names of the deceased as Muhammad Atiku, 27; and Cecilia Peter, 21.

Shehu added, “Saddened by the incident, the command enjoined motoring public to always drive with caution, avoid overspeeding and other road traffic violations.”
