A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mustapha Muhammad has expressed dissatisfaction over the internal crisis rocking the party in the State.

Speaking with DAILY POST exclusively in Gusau, the State capital, Muhammad wondered why there is no cohesion in the party to mobilize forces to challenge the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State.

“The party has faced various internal crises which cannot give the party
to wax strong ahead of 2023 general election in the State” he lamented.

According to him, the crisis started when the State party chairman, Colonel Bala Mande was given the ticket to contest for Zamfara north senatorial seat but he refused to relinquish his seat as the chairman for his deputy, Professor Kabiru Jabaka.

Muhammad further said there were grudges within the leadership of the party in the state which forced the deputy chairman to dump the party with his supporters for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

“As the internal crisis persists, a group released a press statement that the chairman of the party had been sacked by the party’s leadership following his anti-party activities”

He noted that another group came out to debunk the statement, saying that those who gave the press statement were not authentic members of the party.

“While that was being settled, the Sabon Gari ward of the party released another press statement that the State party secretary, Alhaji Ahmad Farouq Rijiya has ben suspended even without notifying the State leadership of the party before taken the action”

“The internal crisis, however, continued to escalate to the extent that the party’s supporters started losing confidence in the party as the leadership of the party could not address the problems and speak with one voice”

The PDP chieftain said if the leadership of the party can not address the teething problems before the 2023 general election, then APC will remain the only recognized party in the State.

He, however, lamented that the PDP is the number one opposition party in the State but has nothing to show for that as the ruling APC can do anything in the state without being challenged.

Muhammad appealed to the national secretariat of the party to as a matter of urgency come into the crisis and rescue the party from total collapse.
