The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says flood and windstorm have displaced over 200 families in Jigawa State.

Executive Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura disclosed this to newsmen in his office.

He said ten local government areas were affected by the flood and windstorm disaster last year.

They include Gwaram, Garki, Babura, Jahun, Miga, Kaugama, Giuri, Maigatari, Birniwa and Birni Kudu Local Government.

Babura explained that the windstorm and flood destroyed houses and crops worth millions of naira in the areas.

According to him “100 victims were selected and supported with 20 chicken layers each with their feeds and another set of 100 people were also empowered with cows, bulls and feeds to cushion the effects of the disasters.”

Babura added that NEMA had also donated food stuffs, such as rice, maize, guinea corn, beans, roofing sheets, nails, bags of cement, blankets to the affected victims.
