A group under the aegis of the Kusimi Development Movement, KDM has urged President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to put an end to the injustices allegedly meted out to indigenes by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company.

They have also asked Governor Okowa to compel the NPDC and NECONDE to obey a court judgment ordering them to pay Kusimi all commensurate benefits as its host community.

The group made the call in a communique signed by Smart Kusimi, Tarekebinna Ekereke and Ezonfade Zikorebai Coordinator, Secretary and Communications Director respectively.

The communique was signed shortly after the group’s virtual online meeting.

The group said the underdevelopment and marginalization of the community have brought existential threats to indigenes.

The group said NPDC/NECONDE Jv has denied them of all commensurate benefits in the face of an existing court judgment in favour of the community.

The group also urged the judiciary to enforce preemptive actions against the willful disobedience of NPDC/NECONDE Jv over its flagrant disobedience to a court judgment that declared Kusimi Community host status to the oil firm.
