Gov. Uzodinma to rebuild creative industry, as Nollywood marks 20 years in Imo

Imo State Government has reassured entertainers in the state of its desire to rebuild the entertainment industry.

The Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hon. Eric Uwakwe, made the assurance to members of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter during their 20th Anniversary celebration.

Speaking at the event which took place at Ice Bar and Lounge Owerri on October 30, 2021, Hon. Uwakwe said that the Shared Prosperity Administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma is committed to developing the Nollywood industry in Imo State to remain the number one destination for art, music, and other talents.

He said the Imo state Government is proud of the Actors, Actresses, and other entertainers in Imo State because their creativity has put them and the state on the global map of international entertainment platforms.

Actors Guild of Nigeria, is a group of Nollywood actors, actresses, entertainers amongst others.

Hon. Eric Uwakwe who was the Chairman of the occasion excited by the creativity of the association promised to support and provide a platform for them to achieve their dreams.

“I am happy to be a part of Your 20th Anniversary celebration today. I am one of your biggest fans. What you are doing is real and legal. It is something that is very rare. The world is watching you. I want you to stay focused and never take no for an answer. We will support you and give you the opportunity to get to places you never imagined”

“As a State Government, we are committed to developing creative talents in Imo State as we continue to serve as the premier destination for Nollywood and entertainment generation in Africa.”

Speaking during the occasion, Hon. Nneoma Ukpabi, President,  Actors Guild of Nigeria, Owerri Chapter said they are honoured to have the Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, Hon. Eric Uwakwe as the chairman of the 20th-anniversary occasion and commended him for giving them a platform to discuss with him.

She said they are satisfied with the top achievements of  Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration, adding that they are ready to partner with the Governor and State Government in promoting the 3R mantra – Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Recovery.

The Special Adviser was accompanied to the event by his Head of Operations, Hon Chidozie Peter, and other notable Youth leaders in Imo state.
