Two Years In Mind: Tribute To Late Chiet Eugene Okebata Oguzie (Emeziem 1 of Duruemezie) Village Head of Duruemezie Ancient Kingdom

By Dr. Okechukwu Oguzie

Daddy, you left us precisely two years ago (1st of October 2019). In as much as you left at the age of 82, it was still very painful as you were still bubbling with life. Considering the circumstances again made it much more painful.

You are known by different people differently. To us your biological children, it’s Daddy, to others, Chief, brother, Di-Mercy, Teacher, Headmaster and to the entire village, it’s village head.

You were a man who fought for the oppressed, you gave your last to the needy, an exemplary teacher and disciplinarian.

You were also a civilian soldier even at the point of death. You singlehandedly and successfully fought back the hoodlums that attacked you on the same day. You are indeed a soldier. You have the mind of a 25year old. I know if tye situation re-enacts itself, you will do same. God built you that way.

Let me use this medium to inform you that the hoodlums have met their Waterloo.

I also call you a ‘soldier’ because you fought death to a standstill with positive thoughts.
I remember vividly when you had heart failure, you prayed asking God for just one more year to enable your son (Okey) graduate from medical school. God saw your selfless prayers and extended for several years.

If not that death is inevitable, I am sure you will still be alive today.

Daddy, everything is fine here. All your advices before you departed still reverberates in my mind till date and been taken very seriously.

You have left a vacuum that is only been managed and cannot be filled.

Dad, continue to rest in the Bossom of the Lord till we meet to part no more.

Your son
