MUAA Awards 2013: Call for nominations



The planning committee for  Madonna University Alumni Association (MUAA) Awards 2013, has called on her members around the world to submit names of individuals whom they deem fit to receive the awards.

The committee listed six categories with one award for each which will be given to nominees with the highest ranking after their assessment on October 12, 2013 at at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel Abuja where the award ceremony will be holding alongside the launching of the maiden edition of her magazine, MUAA Mgazine.
A statement by the committee has it that some of the awards will be will have only members of the associations eligible for them, while members of the public will be eligible in some other categories.
The categories and their descriptions are posted below and all nominations are to be detailed and sent to muaaawards@gmail.com on or before October 2, 2013.

1.    MUAA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Description
The Lifetime Achievement Award will recognise and promote individuals who have made significant and relevant contribution in their professional field. The nominee must have reached the highest professional recognition in his/her vocation.

Eligibility
The Lifetime Achievement Award is the association most prestigious award and must be given to an individual who has:

–    an established history of distinguished professional service
–    made a lasting contribution to the practice of his/her profession
–    positively influenced his/her profession on a state, national or international level.
–    Achieved the highest professional recognition in his/her professional career
–    exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others

The Lifetime Achievement Award is an individual award in recognition of a person’s outstanding contributions to his/her professional vocational field. These contributions may be a new innovation, new knowledge, or ways to improve professional practice or has obtained the highest recognition in his/her professional field.

Nominees should have:
•    made a positive impact on the professional level
•    earned recognition by other industry, training, education or employer groups;
•    the respect of professional peers and the general public
•    general acknowledgement as having reached the pinnacle of their profession or industry;
•    demonstrated, over an extended period of time a contribution which has included either research, industry achievement, professional leadership and service
•    personal integrity.

Nominees:
•    do not need to be members of the association
•    do not need to be currently working
•    do not need to be citizens of Nigeria
•    achievements need to be within Nigeria

Selection of the nominee is made on the basis of the candidate’s significant, fundamental professional contributions in research, leadership, mentorship, education, service  or any other means. The lasting impact of these contributions to the sector; and the demonstration of a lifetime commitment to his/her profession.

The nomination needs to be submitted with a written citation written in 3 distinct sections

Section B: Achievements
Provide a detailed explanation their achievements and contributions

Section C: Justification
Provide the reason for the nomination.

2.    MUAA LEADERSHIP AWARD

Description
This award will honour and recognize an alumnus who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities. The nominee must have held leadership positions at national or state level.

Eligibility
The award seeks to reward members of the association that has sacrificed time in order to serve the association in different capacities. The award would be given to an individual that

–    Has served the association in one of these capacities
i.    National Officer
ii.    Chapter Officer
iii.    Served on a committee set up at national level

–    Must be a member of the association and must be financially up to date
–    Must have visible leadership qualities and inspire others

Nominees should have:
•    made a positive impact on the association
•    earned recognition from others for their services to the association
•    Motivates and inspires the people around them to accomplish more
•    Inspires a high level commitment from others when taking on new initiatives;
•    Actively shares responsibility, authority, information and credit when working towards the achievement of a goal.
•    Sets a high standard of integrity by leading through example and maintains high personal standards

Provide a short overview of the person, detailing all positions that has been held by the nominee

Section B: Achievements
Provide a detailed explanation their achievements and contributions

Section C: Justification
Provide the reason for the nomination.

3.    MUAA PROFESSIONAL AWARD

Description
The professional award will recognise and promote members, who though have not reached the pinnacle of their carrier, but have made a significant and relevant contribution in their professional field and has signs or promises that they could serves as role model for the younger members of the association

Eligibility
The MUAA professional Award must be given to an individual who has:
–    an established history of distinguished service in his/her professional field
–    Positively influenced his/her profession on a state, national or international level.
–    exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others

Nominees should have:
•    made a positive impact on the professional level
•    earned recognition by other industry, training, education or employer groups;
•    the respect of professional peers
•    general acknowledgement as having the potential to reach the pinnacle of their profession or industry;
•    demonstrated, over an extended period of time a contribution which has included either research, industry achievement, professional leadership and service
•    Personal integrity.

Nominees:
•    must be members of the association
•    must be currently working in the field for which he/she is been recognised for

Selection of the nominee is made on the basis of the candidate’s significant, fundamental professional contributions in research, leadership, mentorship, education, service  or any other means. The lasting impact of these contributions to the sector; and the demonstration of a recognisable commitment to his/her profession.

Provide the reason for the nomination, detailing especially how the nominee has the potential to get to the pinnacle of his/her career.

4.    MUAA PUBL SERVICE AWARD

Description
This award aims to recognise and celebrate individuals that has exceptional track record in public and voluntary services.

Eligibility
Nominee must be 

–    Not be a member of the association
–    Must be actively involved in public or voluntary services

Nominees should have:
•    made a positive impact on the life of people through pubic, voluntary or charity services
•    earned recognition by other industry, training, education or employer groups;
•    must be involved in such services for the love of humanity and not for any known or recognisable personal gains
•    personal integrity.

Section B: Achievements
Provide a detailed explanation of their achievements and contributions

Section C: Justification
Provide the reason for the nomination, detailing especially how the nominee has touched the lives of people through public service.

5.    MUAA Distinguished Citizens Award

Description
This award would recognise individuals who have excelled either in their chosen professional carers or in leadership positions. This award seeks to reward patriotic citizens who has contributed to the growth of the nation through hard work and dedication professionally and/or in leadership positions.

Eligibility
Nominee would meet the following

•    do not need to be members of the association
•    do not need to be currently working
•    must be citizens of Nigeria

Nominees should have:
•    made a positive impact on the life of people through his/her professional endeavours, public service and leadership positions held
•    earned recognition by other industry, training, societies, education or employer groups;
•    personal integrity.

6.    MUAA Distinguished Alumni Award

Description
This award is to recognise members of the association that has

Eligibility
Nominee must
Be member of the association
–    Must have a proven track record in both his professional career and leadership position
–    Personal integrity
–    Must have a nice association with the alumni association both at state and national level

The application needs to be submitted with a written citation written in 3 distinct sections
