The success achieved by every DJ is not only calculated from the high profile events they he played in, but greatly depends on the number of successful mixtapes he was able to release in his time on the wheels. And while talent is one key to becoming a good DJ, style and concept are other things that could shoot a Dj to the top of his career.
Dj Saquo Nigeria, a young Dj based in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State has taken time to study the turns in the onions of becoming a good Dj which has led to the evolution of his mixtape line PARTY RULES BOOK.
On the 4th edition, which he titled South African House Mixtape aka S.A.H.M, Dj Saquo moved away from Nigeria to South Africa for a 30 track mixtape which featured songs that have what it takes to change the flavour a party from Nigerian to South Afircan.
On why he chose South Africa, he spoke to www.otowngist.com, saying “People always see music and mixtapes as something that will always come from here or regions as round the country. Others have mixed songs from USA, UK and other countries we consider rich in music. While trying to keep it real and still doing my thing like no other, I decided to take my thing to South Africa.
By fusing all the cultures I could lay my hands on with the new generation hits over there, I made them give birth to S.A.H.M, which right now is more than a mixtape.”
Dj Saquo currently plays in Hot 99.5 FM Owerri where he is termed the crazy Dj (you should know what it means). He is one DJ that knows what will come next whenever he is spinning the wheels.
