Sultan of Sokoto Urges Peace and Unity During Atiku’s Visit to Palace

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and mutual understanding in addressing the challenges facing the country.
The Sultan made the appeal on Wednesday while receiving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, and members of his delegation during a courtesy visit to his palace in Sokoto.
He emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building, noting that traditional institutions have important roles to play in promoting peaceful coexistence, national unity and sustainable development.
“Peace, unity and mutual understanding are essential for addressing the challenges facing our nation. We must all embrace collective responsibility towards building a better society,” the Sultan said.
He also urged Nigerians to work together despite their political, religious and ethnic differences, stressing the need for cooperation in building a peaceful and united country.
In his response, Atiku thanked the Sultan for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
The former Vice President acknowledged the contributions of traditional rulers, particularly the Sultan, to efforts aimed at promoting peace, unity and national development.
“We appreciate His Eminence for the warm reception accorded to us. Traditional rulers have an important role to play in promoting peace, unity and national development,” Atiku said.
He also reaffirmed the importance of collective efforts towards building a better and more prosperous Nigeria.
The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on national issues and the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, unity and development.
