Oshiomhole Accuses Atiku of Divorcing Jennifer Douglas After Election Defeat

Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of divorcing his wife, Jennifer Douglas, after losing a presidential election.

Oshiomhole made the allegation on Monday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.

The former Edo State governor claimed that Atiku had promised to make Douglas Nigeria’s First Lady if he won the presidential election. He alleged that the marriage ended after Atiku failed to secure victory.

According to Oshiomhole, Atiku married Douglas after making the promise during a visit to the South-East. He also claimed that the former vice president established a foundation for her during their marriage.

“Like somebody said the other day that Atiku went to the Southeast and said if I win election, your daughter would be the First Lady, that was when he married Jennifer,” Oshiomhole said.

He further alleged that Atiku took Douglas to court to end the marriage after losing the election.

“Because he likes abusing our president so we must reply, he married Jennifer, set up a foundation for her and at the end of the day, he lost the election and he went ahead to divorce Jennifer, he took her to court, is that not true?” the senator said.

Oshiomhole made the remarks while criticising Atiku over his comments about President Bola Tinubu. He also warned the former vice president against what he described as disrespect towards the President.

The allegations about the circumstances surrounding Atiku’s marriage to and separation from Jennifer Douglas were made by Oshiomhole at the political rally. The supplied account does not include a response from Atiku or independent confirmation of the claims.
