Court Removes Uzodimma as APC Imo West Senatorial Candidate, Orders INEC to Recognise Okorocha

The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the emergence of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

In a judgment delivered on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu held that the evidence presented before the court established that Uzodimma did not win the APC senatorial primary conducted in the zone on May 18.

The primary election was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the court, former Imo State Governor and Senator, Rochas Okorocha, secured the highest number of votes cast during the exercise and was therefore entitled to the party’s nomination.

Consequently, Justice Egwuatu directed INEC to recognise Okorocha and publish his name as the authentic APC candidate for the Imo West senatorial contest.

The court also restrained Uzodimma from presenting himself as the APC candidate for the election.

The ruling marks a significant development in the dispute over the APC’s senatorial ticket for Imo West, with the court’s directive placing Okorocha in line to represent the party in the January 2027 election.
