Oborevwori Links Delta Workers’ 13th-Month Salary to APC Support in 2027 Elections

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has linked his administration’s 13th-month salary package for workers to support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, telling civil servants they have no choice but to vote for the party.
Oborevwori made the remarks on Wednesday in Asaba during the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council for the 2027 elections, where he unveiled “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.
The governor, who chairs the campaign council, described the additional salary payment as a major benefit for workers under his administration. He said civil servants, public servants and political appointees would receive double their regular salary in December under the arrangement.
“Today civil servants have no choice not to vote us. They have no choice. 13th month (salary) is huge, times two,” Oborevwori said, adding that the payment was intended to benefit workers across the state administration.
He also urged members of the campaign council to take President Bola Tinubu’s message to communities across Delta State and mobilise voters at ward and polling-unit levels. According to the governor, the campaign should highlight projects and policies under his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.
Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme commended Oborevwori for aligning Delta State with the Federal Government and urged party members to publicise what they described as the administration’s achievements. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo also defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms, arguing that the measures were intended to address underlying economic problems despite the hardship they had caused.
Delta APC Chairman Solomon Arenyeka said the campaign council’s inauguration demonstrated the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections. Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking for Delta North, said expectations had increased following the state’s mass defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April 2025. He urged the council to focus on direct engagement with voters rather than relying only on rallies.
Representatives of Delta Central and Delta South also pledged support for the re-election campaigns of Tinubu and Oborevwori. Olorogun O’tega Emerhor spoke for Delta Central, while former Secretary to the State Government Ovuozourie Macaulay represented Delta South. Oborevwori urged the campaign team to work with unity and discipline, saying its performance would depend on communicating the administration’s record to voters.
