Ogun So-Safe Corps Arrests 50-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Assault on Woman, Daughter

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as the So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 50-year-old man, Kazeem Adeoye, over an alleged assault on a 44-year-old woman, Oladeyinde Morufat, and her daughter in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed the arrest in a statement issued through the Director of Information, Adegunwa Adegbuyi. According to the statement, the incident occurred at Shonde, Iyana-Ifote, Lisa, on Sunday at about 4:45 p.m.

Morufat reportedly told the corps that she was returning from church with her children when an argument broke out between her children and the suspect’s sons, Abdullah and Ope, who were riding a motorcycle.

She alleged that Adeoye later entered her compound without permission and verbally abused members of her family. She further claimed that the suspect’s wife struck her on the head with a wooden stick, leaving her bleeding.

The woman also alleged that her daughter, Mariam, sustained a cut on her forehead during the confrontation. The injuries prompted the involvement of security operatives, according to the statement released by the corps.

The Divisional Officer, SC Innocent Matthew, reportedly directed officers to apprehend Adeoye. During questioning, the suspect admitted entering the compound but claimed he had gone there to warn the family after his children complained that the woman’s children had obstructed their path.

Adeoye also reportedly admitted that Morufat and her daughter sustained injuries during the incident. The two victims were taken to the Government Health Centre in Lisa for medical treatment, while the suspect was detained.

The So-Safe Corps said the case was transferred to the Ifo Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday for further investigation and possible prosecution. The Corps Commander urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully, report violence promptly and protect children from harm.
