16-Year-Old Girl Killed by Unknown Assailants in Plateau

A 16-year-old girl identified as Salomi Ishaya has been killed by unidentified assailants in Luwaran village, Kawam District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Ishaya was reportedly returning from a river when she encountered the attackers. The incident occurred at about 7pm on October 4, 2026, according to security sources cited by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), based in Jengre, responded after receiving a report of an attack and killing in the community. When the troops arrived at the location, they found the girl’s body while the suspected attackers had already fled.
“The troops arrived at the location and found the victim’s corpse, while the suspected assailants had fled the area,” Makama said in a post on X.
The victim’s body was subsequently evacuated and deposited at the mortuary of the SDA Hospital Mission in Jengre. The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation.
Security personnel are working with Keystone Security operatives in Jengre to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. Authorities said the motive for the killing had not been immediately established.
Investigations have commenced to determine what led to the attack as security operatives continue efforts to track down the suspects and bring them to justice.
