Dangote Trailer Crashes Into Mini Buses at IMSU Junction, Many Feared Dead

A Dangote trailer has crashed into mini commercial buses at the IMO State University (IMSU) junction in Owerri, Imo State, leaving at least 15 passengers injured and several others reportedly dead.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening as the trailer was travelling from the Orji axis of Okigwe Road, according to an eyewitness who spoke to a Blueprint correspondent.

The eyewitness said the trailer lost control and skidded from its lane into the opposite lane, where mini buses were waiting to pick up passengers.

He said not less than 15 passengers sustained injuries in the crash and confirmed that several people died in the incident. Some of the victims were reportedly taken to hospitals, while others were taken to the mortuary.

The crash occurred at the busy IMSU junction, where the impact involved the commercial buses waiting for passengers. The available account did not provide the exact number of fatalities or the identities of those affected.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the accident.

Uzodimma also directed medical personnel to ensure that the injured victims receiving treatment in hospitals receive proper care.
