Lagos Coastal Road Crash Kills One, Injures Three as Lexus Overturns

A road traffic crash along the Coastal Road in the Victoria Island area of Lagos has killed one person and left three others seriously injured.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Friday and involved a grey Lexus Jeep 350, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). The agency said preliminary information indicated that the vehicle lost control, struck a roadside pole and overturned.
LASTMA said its operatives monitoring traffic around the Coastal Road quickly moved to the scene after the crash. They secured the affected section of the road and coordinated the emergency response.
The three injured victims were rescued from the wreckage with assistance from Good Samaritans and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for medical treatment. One other person died in the crash.
Security personnel from Victoria Island also provided support at the scene while emergency and security agencies carried out rescue, investigation and safety operations. LASTMA officers later removed the damaged vehicle from the road to prevent another collision and restore traffic flow.
LASTMA Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said the situation was brought under control after the rescue operation and removal of the vehicle. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain subject to investigation.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise caution, manage their speed and obey traffic regulations.
Bakare-Oki also advised motorists and members of the public to report crashes, vehicle breakdowns, road obstructions and other emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code 3367 for prompt intervention.
