TCN Launches New Anti-Corruption Framework to Tackle Fraud, Bribery

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has introduced a new anti-corruption framework designed to strengthen transparency, accountability and ethical conduct across the company.

The framework was unveiled on Tuesday at TCN’s headquarters in Abuja and brings together four key policies covering anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering and fraud, conflict of interest, and whistleblowing.

The initiative was presented by TCN Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, who was represented at the event by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi.

Abdulaziz said the new framework reflects TCN’s commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability. He said the company’s credibility, given its role in Nigeria’s electricity supply chain, depends not only on its performance but also on the way it conducts its affairs.

“We must therefore continue to remind ourselves of the need to always conduct our affairs with integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility,” Abdulaziz said.

He stressed that fighting corruption cannot be left to management alone, saying both staff and management must play an active role in promoting ethical behaviour. He added that TCN needed a corporate culture where integrity and responsible conduct were part of everyday decision-making.

The four policies have been compiled into a single booklet by TCN’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). Abdulaziz urged employees to study the policies and apply their provisions in their daily duties and decisions as the company seeks to strengthen its internal controls and accountability systems.
