The public fallout between former BBNaija couple Bella Okagbue and Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo has taken a legal turn, with Bella’s lawyers rejecting his defamation allegations and making fresh claims against him.

In a letter dated August 24, 2026, Bella’s legal team dismissed the allegations contained in a cease-and-desist notice issued on Sheggz’s behalf as “spurious and baseless”. The lawyers argued that Bella’s social media posts reflected her personal feelings and experiences and did not amount to defamatory statements.

The legal response went further, alleging that Sheggz had broken a promise to marry Bella and had allegedly misrepresented his intentions during their relationship. Bella’s lawyers said they considered the alleged conduct to amount to deceit.

The lawyers also accused Sheggz of obtaining multiple loans from Bella under what they described as false pretences. They said they had evidence to support the allegation and were prepared to present it before a court of competent jurisdiction.

Bella’s legal team rejected Sheggz’s demands for a retraction, apology and an order requiring her to stop making further statements. They maintained that their client had not published any false or defamatory claims about her former partner.

The lawyers also raised concerns about the conduct of a member of Sheggz’s legal team, alleging that the lawyer had repeatedly contacted Bella through unsolicited messages, phone calls and video calls at inappropriate hours. They warned the lawyer to stop the alleged contact.

The latest exchange adds a new legal dimension to the dispute between the former reality television stars, whose relationship began during their time on BBNaija. Neither side’s allegations have been determined by a court, and the latest claims from Bella’s lawyers remain allegations.
