Seyi Vibez Deletes Posts About Hilda Baci After Legal Threat Over Alleged Defamation

Nigerian street-pop singer Seyi Vibez has deleted social media posts targeting celebrity chef Hilda Baci, hours after she threatened to take legal action over the content.

The development followed a warning letter from Hilda Baci, who demanded that the singer remove what she described as defamatory posts and issue a public apology. She warned that failure to comply could result in a lawsuit.

A subsequent check showed that Seyi Vibez had removed the posts relating to Hilda. However, the singer had not issued the public apology demanded by the chef at the time of the report.

The dispute emerged after Seyi Vibez mentioned Hilda Baci while airing grievances linked to his dispute with Dapper Music over an alleged ₦1 billion in missing catalogue funds.

Hilda became involved in the controversy because of her relationship with Damilola Akinwunmi, the owner of Dapper Music. Seyi Vibez was signed to the record label in 2022 while Akinwunmi was running the company.

The singer later left the label in September 2024, updating his social media biography to describe himself as an “Independent artist”.

The latest development has therefore shifted attention from the original dispute between Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music to the legal warning issued by Hilda Baci over the singer’s comments about her.

For now, Seyi Vibez has removed the posts but has yet to publicly apologise, leaving open the question of whether the matter will end there or proceed to a legal dispute.
