Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has spoken out against the recurring attacks in Benue State, describing the recent killings in Otukpo Local Government Area as heartbreaking and unacceptable.
The Benue-born singer visited Otukpo-Nobi on Wednesday, weeks after suspected armed herdsmen attacked the community on July 12, 2026, leaving at least 10 people dead and several others injured.
Sharing moments from the visit on his Instagram page, 2Baba expressed solidarity with the affected community, saying the pain of Benue is shared by everyone connected to the state.
“Benue is home. When home hurts, we all feel it. Today is about standing together, listening, and reminding one another that hope is never lost,” the singer wrote.
During his visit, the award-winning artiste met with members of the community, sympathised with bereaved families, and encouraged residents not to lose hope despite the tragedy.
Reacting to the continued violence, 2Baba said the persistent attacks had reached an alarming level and called for practical steps to end the bloodshed.
“It’s becoming too much now, we can’t pretend anymore. We need to begin planning. It won’t be automatic but there is definitely going to be a solution,” he said.
The music icon stressed that lasting peace would require collaboration between government, security agencies, community leaders, and residents, insisting that no single individual could solve the crisis alone.
“It’s not going to be one person, we all need to come together and fight it. I came to sympathise with you all. It’s painful,” he added.
Benue State has witnessed repeated attacks in several communities over the years, with residents and stakeholders continuing to call for stronger security measures to protect lives and restore peace across affected areas.
