Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has confirmed the end of her marriage to her younger husband, Bobby Maris, after days of speculation on social media.
Rumours of a possible split gained momentum when the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram. The speculation intensified after both parties, along with the actress’s younger sister, shared cryptic messages on their Instagram Stories, prompting widespread reactions from fans.
Breaking her silence on Tuesday evening, Ogbodo appeared to confirm the separation in a series of posts on her Instagram Story, where she questioned why women are often criticised for walking away from unhappy marriages.
“For person to tire for marriage now na taboo because na woman? Must it always be man wey go tire?” she wrote. “My tired is tired! I’m tired of the princess wey dey marry me.”
The actress also suggested that she had reached her limit after spending eight years in the relationship, questioning whether she was expected to remain in the marriage indefinitely despite her unhappiness.
“I no do again, na sin?” she added, while urging people not to pressure her over the decision. She also hinted that personal happiness should not be sacrificed simply to preserve the image of a marriage.
Neither Bobby Maris nor his representatives had publicly responded to Ogbodo’s comments as of the time of filing this report.
The couple had frequently shared moments from their relationship on social media, making news of the separation a major talking point among fans and followers. However, the circumstances leading to the breakup remain unclear.
Ogbodo’s statement has since generated mixed reactions online, with many social media users debating expectations placed on women in marriage and the importance of prioritising personal well-being.
