The Abia State chapter of the **Peoples Democratic Party> (PDP) has ruled out any alliance with other political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting it is fully prepared to contest the polls independently.

Speaking at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia on Thursday, Abia PDP Chairman Abraham Amah dismissed reports suggesting the party was negotiating a political alliance, describing such claims as false and unauthorized.

Amah said the PDP remains united, strong and well-positioned for the 2027 governorship contest, stressing that no individual has the authority to speak on behalf of the party regarding coalition arrangements.

“As far as we are concerned, as at today, we do not have any agreement with any other political party,” he said.

The party chairman explained that the PDP had already completed the submission of its candidates’ names for various elective positions, adding that the party has no intention of adopting another political platform or allowing any political group to use its own.

“I am privileged to know what is happening in the party, not only in Abia State but also at the national level. We do not have any such agreement with anybody,” Amah added.

He also dismissed claims of internal division within the Abia PDP, insisting there is no faction in the state chapter. According to him, the candidates produced by the leadership under his watch have already been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

Amah disclosed that the party has begun efforts to reconcile aspirants who were dissatisfied with the outcome of its primary elections, saying the move is aimed at strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the PDP’s governorship candidate in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, promised to implement a ₦90,000 minimum wage for civil servants if elected governor. He also criticised the current salary structure in the state, alleging that the present administration has not fully implemented the ₦70,000 national minimum wage for all workers.
