Authorities in Oyo State have begun demolishing a property allegedly used as a hideout by the kidnappers of the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
The demolition exercise commenced on Monday at Lakoun Estate along the Olomi-Olojuoro Road in Oluyole Local Government Area of the state.
The property came under government scrutiny after police operatives traced the abductors to the location during a rescue operation that led to the safe recovery of the victims.
Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke, the younger sister of Adelabu, and her 11-year-old twin sons were abducted last Wednesday while on their way to school in Ibadan. Their kidnapping sparked widespread concern and triggered an intensive security operation across the state.
Police later announced that the victims were rescued unharmed during a coordinated raid carried out on Saturday. Security operatives also recovered weapons and other items believed to have been used by the criminal gang.
On Monday, officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation arrived at the property with heavy equipment to begin the demolition process. The exercise was carried out under the protection of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
Government sources said the move forms part of efforts to discourage criminal activities and send a strong message to individuals using residential properties as operational bases for kidnapping and other violent crimes.
The house, located within the Lakoun Estate area, had reportedly served as a key location for the gang before security agencies uncovered the operation.
The demolition comes amid renewed efforts by the Oyo State Government and security agencies to crack down on kidnapping networks and strengthen public safety across the state.
