Security coordination across Imo State has received a fresh push as the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Imo/Abia Area Command, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) move to tighten collaboration on enforcement, safety, and operational efficiency.

The renewed alignment was reinforced during a high-level courtesy visit by the new FRSC RS 9.4 Imo Sector Commander, Corps Commander Nimota Okoro, to the Customs Area Comptroller, Comptroller Blessing Iheanacho, at the command headquarters in Owerri.

Both agencies agreed that stronger inter-agency cooperation is now central to improving national security outcomes and delivering more effective public service across their respective mandates in the state.

Comptroller Iheanacho stressed that security agencies cannot operate in isolation if they are to meet growing operational demands. She described sustained collaboration as essential to achieving shared national objectives and aligning with the policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

She also acknowledged the FRSC’s support in facilitating driver’s licence issuance for officers of the Imo/Abia Area Command, describing it as a practical example of how cooperation can directly improve operational readiness and efficiency.

Corps Commander Okoro explained that her visit was aimed at strengthening institutional ties and gaining deeper familiarity with Customs operations in the zone. She noted that improved collaboration between both agencies would enhance coordination in enforcement duties and public safety management.

She further emphasised that closer synergy would strengthen road safety enforcement, improve compliance among road users, and support wider security operations across Imo State.

The engagement ended with both agencies reaffirming their commitment to sustained partnership, in line with national directives on security integration and improved service delivery.
