Afro-house singer Niniola Apata has announced the passing of her husband, Michael Ndika, in a series of emotional messages shared on her Instagram story early Wednesday.

The Grammy-nominated artist broke the news in short, grief-filled posts, expressing shock and deep pain over the loss of her partner.

“God took him,” she wrote in her first post, followed by another message stating, “My husband died.”

In a subsequent post, she added: “God took him. 13 years. 13 f*ing years,” suggesting a long personal relationship between the couple before his passing.

Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform known for covering Afro-house and contemporary African music.

Each of Niniola’s posts was accompanied by images of the couple together, reflecting the personal nature of the tribute she shared with her followers.

The circumstances surrounding Michael Ndika’s death have not yet been disclosed.

Niniola, who is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading Afro-house voices, has largely kept her private life away from public attention despite her high-profile music career.

She first rose to prominence as a standout contestant on Project Fame West Africa in 2013 before breaking into the mainstream music industry.

Her 2017 hit single Maradona brought her international recognition and opened doors to collaborations and acclaim from global music figures including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.

News of her husband’s passing has since sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
