The Imo State House of Assembly has praised the state government’s partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for initiating the rehabilitation of the Ukwu Orji-Nwaorieubi Road in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

The commendation emerged from Tuesday’s plenary session following a motion by Mbaitoli lawmaker, Innocent Ikpamezie, who highlighted that the road had remained in a deplorable state for years, causing hardship for motorists, traders, students, farmers, and commuters.

Ikpamezie described the government’s intervention as a “responsive and people-focused leadership” and noted that the ongoing construction has already improved access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities, while easing transportation and boosting commercial activities in the area.

They urged continued support for the government and NDDC to ensure timely and high-standard completion of the project.

The house voted unanimously in support of the motion, after which the Speaker, Chike Olemgbe, directed the clerk, Chinelo Emeghara, to formally convey the resolution to the governor, NDDC, and other relevant agencies.
