The Imo State Police Command has dismantled several criminal networks across the state, arresting 25 suspects involved in serious offenses and recovering a cache of arms, ammunition, and illicit substances.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Henry Okoye said the suspects were apprehended for crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug trafficking, and child trafficking. The operation forms part of the command’s renewed efforts to curb criminal activities in Imo State.

Investigations led to the recovery of four assault rifles, 25 cartridges, two vehicles, three motorcycles, and 35 bags of suspected cannabis sativa. Officers also seized suspected stolen aluminum roofing sheets and other incriminating items during the operation.

Among the arrested were suspected gang members reportedly terrorising Njaba Local Government Area. They include Eririogu Chukwuebuka, 28, from Egwuede Atta, Njaba LGA; Ezemonye Orji, 32, from Edda, Afikpo, Ebonyi State; Kelechi Michael, 28, from Ubowuala, Emekuku, Owerri North LGA; and three other individuals.

The police have assured residents that operations will continue to target criminal elements across the state. Authorities also urged communities to cooperate with security agencies to maintain law and order.

This operation marks a significant crackdown on organized crime in Imo State, reinforcing the police command’s commitment to public safety and the protection of lives and property.
