Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 58-year-old man, Vitalis Nwoko, over the alleged murder of his wife, Uloma Nwoko, following a violent domestic dispute.

DSP Henry Okoye, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed that the arrest was made after Uloma’s sister reported the incident to the Ahiazu Mbaise Divisional Headquarters. She alleged that her brother-in-law assaulted his wife during a domestic argument, which led to her being rushed to hospital.

The spokesperson explained that during preliminary investigations, Vitalis Nwoko admitted that a disagreement with his wife on 11 December 2025 escalated into a physical altercation. Uloma collapsed and was subsequently taken to Cecilia Hospital, Ogbe, where she was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

Following the incident, Nwoko was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri for further investigation and prosecution. Authorities are now conducting a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.

Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, urged members of the public to promptly report cases of domestic violence, stressing the Command’s commitment to dealing decisively with perpetrators.

He also encouraged families to seek early intervention in domestic disputes to prevent escalation into fatal incidents, emphasizing that timely reporting can save lives.

The Imo State Police Command reiterated its resolve to enforce law and order, ensuring that domestic violence cases are investigated thoroughly and perpetrators brought to justice.
