Pastor David Ibiyeomie Warns Christians Against Buying Christmas Clothes Before Paying Tithes

The Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has warned Christians against buying Christmas clothes before paying their tithes, describing the practice as dangerous.
The cleric made the remarks during a church sermon in a video that has circulated widely on social media, urging believers to prioritise their tithes as the festive season approaches.
“Year is ending, don’t buy Christmas clothes when you have not paid tithe. It’s dangerous. It’s very dangerous,” Ibiyeomie said in the video.
He cautioned Christians against diverting money meant for tithes towards Christmas shopping, warning that failing to fulfil the religious obligation could expose believers to misfortune.
The pastor also recounted incidents involving vehicles conveying him during his travels, claiming that tyre bursts occurred when people who were not paying tithes were driving.
According to Ibiyeomie, one such incident happened in Ibadan when two tyres burst during a journey. He said he confronted the driver after discovering that the individual was not a tither.
Using the experience to reinforce his message, the cleric urged Christians to pay what he described as the correct tithe and cautioned them against attributing every misfortune to the devil.
His comments have drawn attention to the relationship between religious giving and personal spending during the Christmas season, when many households also face increased expenses for clothing, food, travel and other celebrations.
The remarks place tithing at the centre of the pastor’s message, as he encouraged members of his congregation to honour their religious commitments before making festive purchases.
