Celebrity businessman Cubana Chief Priest has issued a strong political warning to President Bola Tinubu following the life-imprisonment sentence handed to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. He argued that the President risks an electoral collapse in the South-East if the detained separatist is not freed before the 2027 general elections.

Reacting shortly after the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered its judgment, the socialite said the region’s political mood has become increasingly volatile, adding that resentment is deepening among residents who view Kanu’s continued detention as an injustice.

In a lengthy post shared on Instagram, he claimed that support for President Tinubu in the South-East was already dwindling and could fall to unprecedented lows. He warned that the ruling party might fail to secure even “10,000 votes” across the region if the issue remains unresolved.

Cubana Chief Priest also criticised South-East ministers, accusing them of failing to communicate the true level of public anger to the President. He insisted that none of them holds the political weight necessary to calm the growing dissatisfaction.

He extended his warning to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, urging him to intervene by appealing the judgment and pushing for Kanu’s release. According to him, the governor’s political achievements risk being overshadowed if he fails to take decisive action.

The businessman argued that the South-East’s political landscape is now tightly tied to the fate of the IPOB leader, describing Kanu as a figure whose imprisonment continues to shape regional sentiment ahead of future elections.

He urged both President Tinubu and Governor Uzodinma to “get it right” before the next electoral cycle, insisting that the region’s loyalty “belongs to MNK” and cannot be reclaimed without addressing the matter.
