A festive atmosphere is set to sweep through Owerri as the Imo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) announces its 2025 End-of-the-Year Get-Together, scheduled for Saturday, 13 December, at Crest Suites Hotel, Okwu Uratta, near the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Complex.
The association said the gathering would serve as a celebration of a year marked by impactful sports reporting, professional growth and the shared commitment of journalists who continue to shape sporting narratives across the state.
Members, partners and stakeholders are expected to attend what SWAN describes as a relaxed but purposeful evening, designed to foster connections, unwind from a demanding year and honour achievements within the sports media space.
As preparations intensify, the association is extending an open invitation to corporate bodies, sports brands and individuals to partner with the event. The group says such collaborations would provide valuable exposure and help strengthen relationships within Imo’s expanding sports journalism ecosystem.
Organisers promise an engaging lineup that includes games, entertainment, networking opportunities, recognition moments and light refreshments — all curated to create room for bonding, collaboration and community spirit.
SWAN emphasised that the annual get-together remains one of its most symbolic traditions, offering members the chance to reflect on their contributions while energising them for the year ahead.
