Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has spoken candidly about his challenges with the Super Eagles, insisting he remains a quality player despite his recent dip in form for the Nigerian national team.

The 24-year-old forward, who has impressed at club level in the Bundesliga, admitted that he has not yet delivered his best performances for Nigeria but remains committed to the national cause.

Speaking with sports journalist Oma Akatugba, Boniface said his struggles to find the net for the Super Eagles have been frustrating but do not define his talent or work ethic.

“I have been unlucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals, even though there were a couple of games I was not good,” he confessed. “My biggest dream as a football player was to represent my country, and I achieved this — I’m grateful for that.”

Boniface added that his love for Nigeria drives him to keep pushing through difficult spells: “Because it has not worked good for me with the national team does not mean I am a bad player.”

The Leverkusen star has been a standout performer in Germany under Xabi Alonso, helping his club maintain top form domestically and in Europe. However, fans have been eager to see the same impact replicated in the green and white of Nigeria.

With the Super Eagles gearing up for crucial fixtures, Boniface’s determination to prove himself could yet see him become a key figure in the team’s attack.
