Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has condemned the declaration of Paul Biya as the winner of Cameroon’s recent presidential election, describing the outcome as “a fraud and an assault on democracy.”

Frank, in a statement from Abuja on Tuesday, said the 93-year-old leader’s continued hold on power represents “a mockery of democratic values” and called on the international community to intervene.

“The so-called results announced by the regime are a fabrication and a clear subversion of the people’s will. The world must not stand by while democracy in Cameroon is strangled in broad daylight,” Frank stated.

He decried the violent crackdown on protesters who took to the streets to challenge the results, accusing Cameroonian security forces of using deadly force against peaceful demonstrators.

“Innocent Cameroonians are being killed by their own security forces simply for demanding that their votes count. This bloodshed must end immediately. Those who ordered and carried out these killings must be held personally accountable before international law,” he added.

Frank urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the United Nations (UN) to investigate the reported violence and ensure justice for victims.

He further insisted that the “true winner” of the election was Issa Tchiroma Bakary, arguing that his victory reflects the genuine will of the Cameroonian people.

“The international community must recognise this fact and pressure Paul Biya to step down,” Frank concluded.

Paul Biya, Africa’s oldest serving president, has ruled Cameroon since 1982. His controversial re-election has sparked protests across the country and drawn criticism from several international observers.
