Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has outlined how former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi could secure victory in the 2027 elections, insisting the “Obidient Movement” must focus on grassroots mobilisation.

Her comments came in reaction to a pledge by Rev. Yinka Yusuf, founder of the House of Love Church, who vowed to mobilise Nigerians to deliver 30 million votes for Obi in the next presidential election.

Yesufu, a co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign and a strong supporter of Obi in 2023, took to X to stress that winning in 2027 will depend on Obidient members taking ownership of their local wards.

“You see that last part. That is it! What are we individually and collectively doing to make Peter Obi win?” she wrote. “If we all deliver our wards and get him sworn in, then he can go and be doing the jaki work of fixing Nigeria. He likes work, so let’s give him the work.”

Yesufu added that critics who dismiss Obi’s political structure do so because they fear its growing strength. “The fact that they are talking about it means they know it is there and powerful, and they want to gaslight people into believing there is none,” she said.

The activist’s remarks highlight the enduring influence of the Obidient Movement, a grassroots network of largely young Nigerians who rallied behind Obi in 2023 and continue to see him as a credible alternative to the country’s two dominant political parties.

Analysts say that while Obi faces steep challenges in a system long dominated by the APC and PDP, the continued energy of the Obidient base could play a decisive role in shaping the 2027 presidential race.
