Victor Osimhen is on the verge of completing a stunning switch from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray in what is set to become the most expensive signing in the history of the Süper Lig. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are finalizing the paperwork, with lawyers expected to seal the agreement over the weekend.

Galatasaray will activate Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, spread across two installments — €40 million upfront and the remaining €35 million to be paid by June 2026. The move marks a significant financial and sporting coup for the Istanbul-based club, who beat off interest from Premier League and Saudi clubs.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward enjoyed a prolific spell at Napoli, where he played a central role in the club’s historic 2022/23 Serie A title win — their first in 33 years. Osimhen netted 26 league goals that season, becoming the first African to win the Capocannoniere award.

Galatasaray, who clinched the Turkish league title last season, are pushing hard to build a squad capable of making a deeper run in the UEFA Champions League. Osimhen’s arrival is expected to send a strong signal to their European rivals and ignite excitement among fans across Turkey and Nigeria.

The deal, once completed, will also set a new benchmark for player valuations in Turkish football. Galatasaray’s previous record signing was Radamel Falcao, who joined on a free transfer in 2019 with a significant wage package. Osimhen’s transfer fee dwarfs any previous financial commitment made by the club.

Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille for €75 million in 2020, departs Serie A with 65 goals in 119 appearances. He has also scored 21 goals for Nigeria and is seen as one of Africa’s brightest footballing exports. The move could serve as a career-defining chapter for the striker, who has previously spoken of his desire to compete at the highest levels of European football.

Napoli have yet to announce a direct replacement, although reports in Italy suggest a shortlist is being drawn up, including Lille’s Jonathan David and Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund.
