Strong words of commendation have poured in from Orluzurumee Worldwide, the apex socio-cultural body representing the entire Orlu Zone, as the group publicly lauded Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his infrastructural strides and people-focused governance. The endorsement comes on the heels of the Governor’s State of Imo Address delivered on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, marking 18 months into his second term in office.
Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, President General of Orluzurumee and former two-term lawmaker for Nkwerre State Constituency, described the governor’s speech as “visionary, inspiring, and rich with substance.” Nzekwe, who also chairs the Former Members of Imo House of Assembly Association (FOMIHA), issued a press statement on June 25, emphasizing that Uzodimma’s focus on infrastructure, security, healthcare, and economic revitalization reflects true leadership.
Citing landmark road projects cutting across rural and urban areas of Imo State, Orluzurumee noted that Uzodimma’s administration has tackled decades-long infrastructure decay in the state. Communities across Orlu, Owerri, and Okigwe zones are witnessing rapid road rehabilitation, drainage construction, and erosion control, bringing relief to motorists and traders.
The group also singled out the Governor’s “Light Up Imo” power project, describing it as a potential economic game-changer for local industries and SMEs. According to Nzekwe, stable electricity supply could ignite industrialization, attract investors, and create thousands of jobs across the state within the next 12 months.
Security reforms received equal praise, with Orluzurumee acknowledging what they called “a visible decline in insecurity” across volatile areas like Orlu and Njaba. The group credited Uzodimma’s investment in strategic intelligence gathering and community policing initiatives for restoring confidence among residents and businesses.
Healthcare improvements, including the renovation of general hospitals and the introduction of rural health outreach programs, were also highlighted as key milestones. Orluzurumee urged the governor to sustain the momentum, stressing that the administration’s growing international partnerships are positioning Imo State for global economic collaborations.
In a powerful closing statement, Nzekwe called on all Imolites to “set aside political differences and rally behind a leader who is delivering results.” He concluded: “This is not about politics. This is about securing the future of our children and our state. Governor Uzodimma is writing history, and Orlu stands solidly behind him.”
