Gunmen have murdered a lawyer and his client shortly after the duo secured a court bail ruling in a high-profile murder case at High Court II, Ekwulobia, Anambra State. The brutal attack occurred on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Egbebelu village, Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area.

According to the Anambra State Police Command, preliminary investigations reveal that the victims were ambushed by assailants who had trailed them from court. The victims were double-crossed and shot multiple times inside a red Toyota Camry. A third occupant of the vehicle narrowly escaped death and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Police spokesperson DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident in an official statement, stating that the survivor has already provided valuable information that is aiding ongoing investigations and a full-scale manhunt.

The bodies of the deceased have since been identified and released to their respective families. The police also recovered the vehicle used by the victims, which was found riddled with bullet holes at the scene of the crime.
