Afrobeats star Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has revealed that he would prefer to get married early, saying he likes the idea of being in his 40s with teenage children.

The 29-year-old singer shared his thoughts on marriage during an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce. Joeboy said he began considering the benefits of marrying young after hearing Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson speak about wishing he had settled down earlier.

According to Joeboy, Egbuson’s comments stood out because of his reputation as a ladies’ man. He said the actor’s admission made him reconsider the idea of waiting until later in life before starting a family.

Joeboy said marrying young to someone he genuinely loves could be appealing, particularly because it would allow him to have older children while still being relatively young himself.

“Being 40 and having a 16-year-old kid is cute.”

The singer, however, stressed that marriage should not be treated as something to pursue simply because it appears fashionable or convenient. He said the right time depends on finding someone you genuinely love and when the relationship feels right.

Joeboy also revealed that he would likely keep his marriage private if he decided to settle down soon. Rather than making a public announcement, he joked that fans might only discover he was married after he had already started raising a sizeable family.

“Maybe when I have like three kids, people will now find out that Joeboy has a whole family somewhere,” he said.

The comments offer a glimpse into the singer’s personal views on relationships and family life, while making it clear that, despite his preference for early marriage, he intends to keep any future relationship or marriage away from the public eye.
