Tinubu Will Lose 2027 Election Before 4pm If Poll Is Free and Fair — PRP Chairman

President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election if the contest is free, fair and credible, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) national chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has predicted.
Baba-Ahmed made the claim during an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday, arguing that millions of Nigerians are eager to use the ballot box to express their dissatisfaction with the current government.
“If it is a credible, free and fair election, I assure you Tinubu will lose. I won’t say before 12 noon, maybe before 4 pm in the evening,” he said.
The PRP chairman warned that any attempt to undermine the credibility of the 2027 election could have serious consequences for Nigeria’s democracy. He said many Nigerians were angry and wanted a genuine opportunity to express their views through the ballot.
Baba-Ahmed acknowledged that removing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power would be difficult, given Tinubu’s growing political influence. He pointed to the recent Osun governorship election as an example of how an incumbent political structure could potentially be defeated at the polls.
The PRP leader noted that Tinubu appears to have secured the support of more than 31 governors and a large majority of members of the National Assembly within the APC. He described the ruling party as a powerful political machine but argued that its strength would not guarantee victory in 2027.
He also criticised what he described as Tinubu’s continued concern about retaining political control despite the president’s influence over key political institutions. Baba-Ahmed argued that the concentration of political power around the presidency could create risks for the country’s democratic system.
The PRP chairman further questioned recent comments by Tinubu defending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against allegations of bias. Baba-Ahmed said the electoral body should ultimately be judged by the credibility of elections in which the sitting president is a candidate.
With the 2027 presidential election still ahead, Baba-Ahmed’s prediction remains a political assessment rather than an established outcome. The contest is expected to attract multiple parties and candidates, while the credibility of the electoral process, voter sentiment and political alliances could all shape the eventual result.
