The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released a new set of guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the forthcoming orientation camp, urging them to avoid travelling at night and ensure all required documents are in order before reporting.
In a notice shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the scheme stressed that the safety of prospective corps members remains a priority, advising them to plan their journeys to arrive at camp during daylight hours.
“Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the NYSC stated.
The scheme also warned that prospective corps members with discrepancies between the graduation date on their call-up letters and the date on their statements of results would not be registered at the orientation camp.
According to the NYSC, affected candidates are expected to resolve such issues with their respective Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to camp to avoid delays or denial of registration.
The agency further reminded prospective corps members to complete all necessary documentation before arriving at the orientation camp. This includes printing, signing and submitting the required registration form during the registration process.
For candidates seeking to correct their dates of birth, the NYSC outlined a specific procedure. Applicants are required to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN before initiating the correction through their NYSC dashboard.
The process involves selecting the “Correction of Date of Birth” option, entering the WAEC Verification PIN, choosing the appropriate WAEC examination type, examination year and examination number, before verifying the details and submitting the request.
The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to strictly comply with the updated guidelines to ensure a smooth registration process and prevent avoidable challenges during the orientation exercise.
