A disagreement over an unreleased version of Wande Coal’s hit song Come My Way has turned into a public social media clash between the Nigerian Afrobeats stars Davido and Wande Coal.
The dispute began after Davido discussed the collaboration during an appearance on the Uncut podcast. Davido said Wande Coal had approached him to feature on the song and that he recorded a verse he considered one of his strongest contributions.
According to Davido, problems emerged over how the collaboration would be released. He claimed Wande Coal chose to put out the original version of Come My Way first while keeping Davido’s verse for a possible remix. Davido said he rejected that arrangement and did not want his contribution added after the original song had already been released.
Wande Coal responded on X, disputing Davido’s account and questioning why the singer expected to influence the release strategy of a song that belonged to him. He also pointed out that Come My Way had already performed well without Davido’s contribution.
“Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!!” Wande Coal wrote, making it clear that he believed the song’s release plans had already been established.
What started as a disagreement over the music soon became more personal. Davido responded by calling Wande Coal “Mr Little”, prompting Wande Coal to fire back with an insult of his own. Fans of both artistes quickly entered the exchange, adding to the growing online drama.
Davido later accused Wande Coal of “acting like a baby” and shared a screenshot he said was from a WhatsApp conversation dated July 22. In the exchange, a mutual contact appeared to ask Davido for permission to share his phone number with Wande Coal, saying the singer wanted to contact him.
Davido appeared to use the screenshot to support his claim that Wande Coal had recently attempted to reach him. However, the exchange does not independently establish what happened to the original Come My Way collaboration or why the proposed release failed.
The public dispute has now renewed interest in the unreleased version of Come My Way, while leaving fans with two conflicting accounts of how the collaboration fell apart. Neither Davido nor Wande Coal had withdrawn their position at the time of reporting.
