Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly preparing to marry his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez, in a private ceremony expected to take place this weekend in Portugal.

According to a report by The Sun (UK), the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward is scheduled to exchange vows with Rodriguez on Saturday, August 8, on the island of Madeira, where he spent much of his childhood.

The report claims the couple have chosen Funchal, Madeira’s capital city, as the venue for the wedding, adding a personal touch to the ceremony by returning to Ronaldo’s hometown.

The wedding comes almost a year after the pair reportedly announced their engagement. The report also states that a cathedral in Funchal has been secured for the ceremony, while the luxury Savoy Palace Hotel has been booked to host the wedding reception.

According to The Sun, hotel guests were informed that two floors of the property, along with several bar areas, would be unavailable on Friday and Saturday due to a private event linked to the celebration.

Earlier rumours suggested that Ronaldo and Rodriguez would marry in Sintra, Portugal, on August 1, but those reports were later dismissed.

Neither Ronaldo nor Rodriguez has publicly confirmed the reported wedding plans as of the time of filing this report.
