The Assemblies of God Church Nigeria in Amakohia, Owerri, has commenced its 2026 Dominion Week, an annual spiritual programme aimed at encouraging members and visitors to understand and exercise what the church describes as their God-given dominion.
The programme began on Sunday, August 23, and will run until Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the church located at No. 6 Frederick Ekwem Street, Amakohia, behind First Bank. Activities hold every morning from 6:00am to 7:00am and in the evening from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.
This year’s programme is themed “Dominion Is a Mandate”, with Genesis 1:26–28 serving as the biblical text. The theme centres on the Christian teaching of humanity’s God-given responsibility and authority over creation.
The programme is hosted by Reverend Dr Ohiagu G.O.C., PhD, and Reverend Lemoha Stanley. Several ministers and guest speakers are also scheduled to take part, including Reverend Augustine Nkemka from Calabar and Reverend Chukwemeka from Abia State.
Evangelist Mrs Choma Okoro is also among the ministers featured during the week. Music ministers Honourable Dr Chimdi, Sister Sopuruchi Adimike and Sister Minister Ijioma are expected to lead worship and praise sessions throughout the programme.
The church said Dominion Week is organised primarily to help members and outsiders better understand the Christian concept of dominion and apply it in their lives. The annual gathering also provides an opportunity for fellowship, worship and spiritual development.
Organisers have structured the programme as a crusade, combining preaching, prayers, worship and music. The church is inviting participants to attend the remaining sessions as the 2026 Dominion Week continues through August 30.
