A joint security operation involving troops of Operation MESA and local vigilantes has led to the arrest of three suspected terrorists during a raid in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Monday during a clearance operation in Dutsen Kwadu Forest, an area security agencies have been monitoring over suspected criminal activities.

Security sources disclosed that the operation, which began at about 4:00 a.m., was launched after intelligence reports indicated the movement of suspected terrorists within the forest.

Acting on the information, troops and members of a local vigilante group carried out a coordinated sweep of the area, leading to the arrest of the three suspects without incident.

The suspects are currently in security custody, where they are undergoing preliminary investigations to establish their identities, affiliations and any possible links to terrorist activities or other criminal networks.

The latest operation forms part of ongoing security efforts to deny terrorists and other armed groups safe havens in forests across Bauchi State and the wider North-East region.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the suspects as investigations continue.
