Three suspects have been arraigned before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in connection with the alleged murder of Adimike Godwin in the Guzape area of Abuja.

The defendants, identified as Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, were brought before FCT High Court 13 after police concluded investigations into the incident, which occurred on May 15, 2026.

According to the FCT Police Command, officers responded to a distress call from a relative who reported being unable to reach the deceased. Detectives arrived at the residence in Guzape and found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered a thorough investigation into the case. Five people, including the deceased’s driver and gateman, were initially arrested during the investigation.

She explained that after reviewing the evidence, police filed charges against Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, while the remaining suspects were not included in the charges announced by the command.

The three defendants are facing a four-count charge, including alleged criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide over the death of Adimike Godwin. The charge sheet also includes separate allegations under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act against the defendants.

The FCT High Court adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing.

The FCT Police Command said it remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of crime while upholding the constitutional rights of all individuals throughout the judicial process. The allegations remain before the court, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
