Rumours claiming that music promoter and socialite Samson Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, has died following a road accident have been dismissed by one of his close associates.
Speaking with PUNCH Online, Akin Abolade, also known as Mr Lilgaga, said Sam Larry survived the crash and personally spoke with him shortly after the incident, urging the public to disregard reports of his death.
According to reports, Sam Larry was involved in a serious road accident along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in Lagos State during the early hours of Saturday. The vehicle conveying the socialite reportedly collided with a trailer, leaving the car extensively damaged.
Videos circulating on social media showed the wreckage of the vehicle, sparking widespread concern and speculation about Sam Larry’s condition. The incident drew further attention after comedian and master of ceremonies Mario Wazobia appealed for prayers on Instagram, stating that the music promoter had been hospitalised.
Reports also claimed that Sam Larry’s bouncer, identified simply as Wale, died at the scene of the crash. However, authorities have not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding the reported fatality.
Addressing speculation about Sam Larry’s condition, Abolade maintained that the socialite is alive, although he could not provide details about the extent of his injuries.
“Yes, he’s alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be ascertained because of how bad the accident was. We spoke after the accident. He’s alive, and I’m sure of that,” he said.
Abolade also said he could not verify social media claims suggesting that Sam Larry suffered severe leg injuries or could require amputation. As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement confirming those reports or providing a medical update on the music promoter’s condition.
