Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has challenged veteran musician Terry G to a celebrity boxing match, claiming the bout would bring renewed attention to the older artiste’s career.
Portable threw down the challenge during an appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds on Sunday, where he spoke about his growing interest in celebrity boxing and his future plans inside the ring.
According to the singer, he prefers fighting fellow entertainers rather than social media personalities, ruling out potential bouts with online figures such as VeryDarkMan and Carter Efe.
“If I fight Terry G, people will remember him. I prefer facing fellow entertainers. I have no interest in fighting social media personalities, including VeryDarkMan and Carter Efe,” Portable said.
The “Zazoo Zeh” crooner also described himself as the pioneer of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, boasting that he has earned millions of naira from his previous fights. Celebrity boxing has become increasingly popular in recent years, with several entertainers stepping into the ring to settle rivalries and entertain fans.
Portable also looked ahead to his scheduled rematch with actor Charles Okocha, which is set to take place on July 31 in Lagos. He expressed confidence that the event would draw a massive audience.
The controversial singer further revealed that a victory over Terry G would be followed by an international tour, with planned stops in London, the United States, Russia, Malaysia, Dubai and South Africa.
Neither Terry G nor his representatives had publicly responded to Portable’s challenge as of the time of filing this report.
