According to the statement, Yakubu Ibrahim died in Abuja after a prolonged illness. Until his death, he served as the governor’s Special Adviser on Higher Education, having previously held the position of Commissioner for Religious Affairs.

Governor Mohammed described the late Ibrahim as an accomplished educationist and dedicated public servant whose career was defined by integrity, humility and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Bauchi State.

“Governor Bala Mohammed described late Yakubu Ibrahim as a distinguished public servant whose life was defined by integrity, humility, selfless service and an unrelenting passion for the advancement of education,” the statement said.

The governor noted that Ibrahim made lasting contributions to the development of education in both the former Bauchi State and the present-day state, adding that his experience, wisdom and commitment enriched government policies and inspired many younger professionals.

Mohammed also paid tribute to Ibrahim’s role as a mentor and bridge-builder, saying his dedication to public service and educational development would remain part of his enduring legacy.

The governor also condoled with former Deputy Governor and Senator Baba Tela over the death of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, who were killed in a road accident on Saturday along the Bauchi–Azare Road while returning from Azare.

Describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy, Mohammed said the loss had brought sorrow not only to the Tela family but also to the entire state.

“The loss of two young lives in such a tragic circumstance is not only a devastating blow to Senator Baba Tela and his immediate family but also a painful loss to the entire people of Bauchi State,” the statement added.

The governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased, asking Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort their families during the difficult period. He also wished those injured in the accident a speedy recovery and urged residents of Bauchi State to remember the affected families in their prayers.
