Popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Ruth Kadiri, has shared how she believed God revealed her future husband to her on the very day they first met, despite her initial lack of interest in him.

Speaking during a podcast interview with Ife Agoro, the Nollywood star opened up about her love story, revealing that marriage was never something she actively pursued or obsessed over while growing up.

According to Kadiri, she never spent time worrying about whether she would eventually get married because she was confident in her value and believed anyone who married her would be fortunate.

“I’ve never really been the girl who sits down and thinks about marriage. It wasn’t a thing for me. I didn’t even know whether I was going to marry. I knew I was a catch, and anyone who was going to marry me was going to be lucky,” she said.

The actress explained that she met her husband during a work-related encounter when he approached her and attempted to start a conversation. At the time, she was not interested in him romantically and paid little attention to his advances.

However, after giving him an opportunity to talk, the pair began discussing business opportunities, importation, and Vietnam. It was during that interaction that Kadiri said she experienced what she believes was divine confirmation about their future together.

“As I was about to walk away, the Spirit of God told me he’s my husband,” she recalled.

Despite that conviction, Kadiri admitted she still blocked his phone number just two days later. According to her, she was already involved in another relationship at the time and was not considering a romantic connection with him.

The actress said her future husband remained persistent and eventually found a way to reconnect with her despite being blocked. His determination, she noted, played a key role in the development of their relationship.

She revealed that after reconnecting, she agreed to go on a date with him, and their relationship progressed quickly. Just four months later, he proposed, and she accepted.

“Two days later, I blocked him, but he went the extra mile to find me. Four months later, he proposed to me, and I accepted,” she added.

Kadiri also noted that being open about aspects of her relationship journey has helped strengthen her commitment to marriage and provided encouragement to others navigating similar experiences.

The actress, who has built a successful career in Nollywood as both a performer and screenwriter, remains one of Nigeria’s most respected filmmakers, known for balancing her professional achievements with a relatively private family life.
